Second helping of ECA Graduate Fashion Show

So sorry for the lateness of my second ECA Show posts!! Honestly the banal tasks of everyday life, along with studying for a work exam, take up soo much time-arrrrrgggh!! Anyway here are three more collections from three super talented graduates. One final post on ECA graduates  collections to follow shortly….
MARIE LEIKNES
HEIM/AW 12/13

Eye catching and opulent this collection definitely stood out for me. Showcasing the hidden work behind knitwear through creating a bold, contrasting palette, Leiknes collaborated with talented textiles graduate Philippa Hill . Using two punch cards in various techniques the designers perfectly executed their aim of showcasing the ‘wrong side’ of knit. Lush!

EMMA HARDSTAFF
FALSE IMPRESSIONS/AW 12/13

Most definitely one of my favourite collections of the show! Playing with scale and volume to distort the silhouette, Hardstaff’s collection is truly desirable while remaining practical. I love the peculiar combination of fabrics which pull together so well. So ornate and beautiful.

NICOLA DAVIDSON
IT’S NOT A COSTUME BALL/ AW 12/13
Researching street-style photography, the collection looks at how garments are styleD and manipulated to become a wardrobe staple. This resulted in leather being manipulated to accompany both woven and knitwear fabrics. I loved this sexy, innovative Navajo style, and the leather was to die for- so luxurious!
